The Monsoon Beetle

Monsoon season has started in Arizona. I’m sure anyone reading this is asking what does that have to do with dating? Please read on.

The first week of monsoons bring out this little black beetle that hangs around for about a week and then mysteriously goes away. I decided to read up on these little creatures.

Turns out the monsoon beetle comes out the first week of the monsoons looking for love. Yep, you read that correctly. They come out to find their soulmate without having to swipe right. When they find Mr. or Ms. Right, they mate and then they die.

Of course, my first thoughts were it’s great not to have to suffer through a bunch of on-line profiles to meet someone. The downside is you wait a year to find a mate, you get down with him or her and then you die. What if they weren’t any good?
