What are you looking for?

The first question you encounter on a dating app and it drives me nuts.

Answering this question on a dating app is tricky because if you say you want a relationship, they delete you. I recently learned if you say “casual” it automatically means you are looking for a fuck buddy.

Casual to me means meet someone, see if there is any attraction/chemistry, go out and do things – see a movie, have a drink, go hear a band. Casual to me means more than a fuck buddy, but I don’t want to marry you and have your babies. I just want to date.

When you start dating, everyone says to figure out what you want. After being with the same person for so long, how do I know what I want? I’m terrified of picking the wrong person again, and it’s easier to be casual, so you don’t get involved, you don’t develop feelings and therefore you cannot get hurt.

Dating is frustrating, but maybe I’m not the only one out there afraid of commitment.
